So sorry to hear of Frank's passing. We were good friends in high school and I shuttled him to the Marine Corps Air Station El Toro in California one weekend. We were still in high school at the time. I remember going to his house in Salt Lake on the corner of 13th East and Kensington Avenue. It was a duplex and his room was in the basement. You could enter through the garage or the was a steep stairway down from upstairs. I think he lived next to Dave Salisbury. My grandparents lived a block away on the corner of Emerson Ave. It's been many years since I have thought about any of this. I was reminded about Frank when I read an article about Public Information Officers in the military and how J D Vance had denigrated them, even though he had been one himself. I've been thinking about trying to connect with old friends and this gives me the impetus to do it ASAP before it's too late. Sounds like Frank (Barrie) as his mom called him had a good life. I remember his dad worked for Utah Idaho Sugar and had an Engineering degree and a Law degree, so he had big plans for his only child, but Frank wanted to live his own life and not follow in his dad's footsteps and shadow. As I recall that's why he joined the Marines while still in high school. Sounds like it worked out for him just fine. Sorry for your loss. My daughter lives in Salt Lake, so I do come to Utah once in a while. Next time I come I'll try to contact his family.
