Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, coach, and friend, Lori Callister Palmer, passed away peacefully at the age of 62 on March 20, 2022, surrounded by her family. Lori is preceded in death by her father, Gary Lloyd Callister; grandparents, John Lloyd and Louise Callister and Charles and Virginia Palmer; father and mother-in-law, Keene and Twyla Palmer.
Lori was born on August 21, 1959, to Gary and Sharon Callister. She was raised in Grantsville Utah with her three younger sisters, Staci, Traci, and Lisa. Lori shared a very special bond with her father who instilled a love and appreciation for sports that would be a passion of hers throughout her lifetime. Lori was a very talented athlete throughout her youth and received athletic scholarship to play softball and volleyball at Dixie College. Lori loved the community where her parents raised her and would speak fondly of her childhood growing up in Grantsville. Lori adored her sisters and remained lifelong best friends with each of them.
Lori married Michael Kim Palmer on October 11, 1980 in Grantsville, Utah. Together they raised four sons, Adam, Nick, Jordan, and Brody. Lori loved her family dearly and dedicated her life to them. Together with her husband, countless happy memories were made with their boys; playing sports, camping, fishing, and getting together for big family dinners. Lori loved her sons fiercely and was the biggest fan and supporter to each of them. Lori found much joy in raising her boys and cheering each of them on in their individual pursuits and interests.
After raising four boys, Lori was blessed with seven granddaughters – Paige, Kaitlin, Kalissa, Kimber, Kori, Madelyn, and Abigail. Grandma Lori was adored by each and every one of them. From countless ballgames, to practice birthday parties, she made the most of every moment with her granddaughters.
Lori shared her passion for sports with many in the Grantsville community throughout the years. She coached many young women at Grantsville High School in softball, volleyball, and tennis. Lori was very dedicated to her role as coach and found much joy and purpose in mentoring and building relationships with her players, many of which have lasted her lifetime. Lori was a very loving, compassionate, and kind person. In life, Lori was a natural coach to all who had the opportunity to know her. She was always the most understanding person to talk to and helped all of us realize what we have in ourselves to overcome any challenge or obstacle.
Lori is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband, Kim Palmer, four sons, Adam, Nick, Jordan (Angela), and Brody; mother, Sharon Callister; sisters, Staci (Doug) Tate, Traci (Ron) Olivarez, and Lisa (Todd) Montoya; seven granddaughters, many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 29th, at 12:00 p.m. at the LDS church on 550 East Durfee St, Grantsville, Utah. I met Lori at Dixie State College. We lived next door to each other. We instantly became friends and one weekend she invited me to go to Grantsville with her and stay at her house. She had this motorcycle that we rode around on. Her parents were so nice. I have great memories of Lori. She was a great person.

I moved to Grantsville back in 1987 when I was 15. Lori and Kim were so good to me and my little sister. They invited us to bbq’s at their house and she later coached me in volleyball. She was so much fun and kept us all entertained. She was a special kind of person and I’m so grateful for her influence in my life.
May you find comfort in the fun memories you have of her.

My heart is broken to hear about Lori. She was such a fun person to be around. I have such fond childhood memories of her, Staci, and Traci on McMichael Street. She was always the one to come up with the fun ideas. My thoughts and prayers are with you both and your sweet mother.

Seeing this has truly saddened me, growing up in Grantsville, in the 4th ward , with the twins my age in school, I spent some childhood years knowing this beautiful family, and throughout the past 40 years Lori always, made it a point to ask and truly care how I was doing, my heart goes out to all of her sisters, to Sharon and her husband and children, I know she cherished all of you , she was so very very proud of her family....prayers and sympathy to all May God be with you and ease your pain.

I have such find memories of Lori and all the Callister girls who helped make up our McMichael gang. We had a Mayberry neighborhood and such fun times all through our childhood and school years. When I was dating my husband we wanted to ride a horse. I called Lori and she brought a horse over to my parent\'s house, no questions asked. Of course we didn\'t ever take that horse for an actual ride, neither of us had a clue what to do, but Lori\'s generosity and willingness to let us try made for a fun memory. It was typical of her - kind-hearted and fun-loving through and through. She will be missed enormously because she lived and loved enormously. Love and prayers to you all.â¤ï¸

Lori is definitely one of my favorite members of the McMichael Street gang . We had a wonderful childhood surrounded by loving friends. Climbing the tree behind the Callister home. Playing kickball. Playing kick the can until sundown. Board games.
I enjoyed babysitting occasionally for the Callister girls. I remember Lori always full of fun, friendship, and she enjoyed a very loving family. Love + prayers for her family & loved ones.
