Life & Legacy
The most amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Marc V Taylor passed away on November 24, 2017 suddenly of a massive heart attack.

Marc was born June 27, 1969 and is the son of Jay and Eileen Taylor. He was raised in Peterson, Utah and was always a bright light for everyone around him. He loved spending time with his dad 4-wheeling and anything outdoors. His love for music started at an early age and he participated in the marching band while attending Morgan High. After high school he served an LDS Mission in West Virginia. On September 13, 1997, he married the love of his life, Shelly L. Barnes. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and together raised three incredible children. Marc’s family was always his focus and greatest source of joy. For most of Marc’s married life he has lived in Tooele, Utah. His love for life and people quickly made him a significant part of this community. He worked as the IT Director at Mountain West Medical Center and was currently working in IT Management at Dugway. Although Marc loved computers, his biggest passion was music. He owned his own DJ company and loved helping to create the perfect party or special day. He served on the Chamber of Commerce, was part of the County’s emergency planning and management committee, and was involved in many other aspects of the community. He was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and immersed himself in his church callings; working with the scouts, he was a member of the Stake High Council, and the Young Men’s organization. Marc loved the youth, especially his young men. He was and will continue to be a tremendous influence in each of their lives. He always saw the greatness in everyone and made sure they knew it. Marc loved everyone he met. To know Marc was to be Marc’s friend. He never stopped serving those around him and while most of us might feel he sacrificed his time and services, it didn’t feel like that to him. He did it out of love.

Marc lived every day to the fullest. He was larger than life. He loved biking, scuba-diving, hiking, and traveling with his family. He most recently developed a love and passion for running and helping coach his daughter’s softball team.

Marc is survived by his sweet wife Shelly and their three children Dylan, Rylan and Kylee Taylor, his father Jay Taylor and brother Mike Taylor. He is also survived by his second family Norman and Julie Barnes, Nathan (Angie) Barnes, Tara (Wes) Woolley, Tiffany (Jeremy) Stewart, Trevor Zezula and countless other family members who love him dearly. He is preceded in death by his mother Eileen Taylor.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the LDS chapel on 332 E. 1000 N. in Tooele, UT. There will be a viewing from 9:00-11:00 am, funeral services will start at approximately 11:30 am. Interment is at Tooele City Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, Marc would love donations to be made to the LDS General Missionary Fund. There has also been a GoFundMe account set up in Marc’s name.

Marc was an avid fan of the Utah Utes and was a football season ticket holder for years. To celebrate Marc’s favorite color and team, we are encouraging everyone to wear red. #makeyourMARC

Marc's passing took me by surprise and was a total shock. He was a wonderful man and I'm grateful I was able to call him a friend. When I was living in Tooele and served in the Chamber together we were able to work on so many projects. The ambassadors, the business expo and the taste of Tooele come to mind. I saw him a few days before his passing and we hugged and talked for a bit. A wonderful man that will be missed! I'm sorry I couldn't make it from Colorado for the funeral. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time.

The Taylor family is dear to our hearts. I have had (have) Rylan and Kylee as students, and over the years my children have had the privilege of association with the Taylor children. Whether it was trek, scouts or videogaming, they loved it. Marc was a disciple of Christ, and I aspire to his humility and spirituality. ThroughMarc, I've learned to tolerate red.You all are in our prayers and thoughts.

Kristie and I had the pleasure of meeting Marc at a wedding where we were the photographers and he handled the music. As the night progressed, so did the drama between members of the wedding party. Marc handled it with professionalism--with a suggestion that everybody head to the bar for a quick break. The three of us we were able to get the wedding back on track and turn it into a successful event. We became reacquainted when he worked at Mountain West Medical Center. Through both family events (new babies at the hospital) and corporate meetings (he was essentially a customer of mine) we had many opportunities to visit and laugh, and I will miss that. Our thoughts and hearts are with his family.
