Skyler Mair

Skyler passed away on August 18, 2019, in Lehi, Utah, at the age of 22 years old. Born on December 21, 1996, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Skyler was the son of the late Charity Marie Longaker Mair and Lyndon Shane Mair.

Skyler graduated from Stansbury High School in 2015. After graduation, he attended Snow College where he received his associate of science degree in general studies. He continued his education at Utah Valley University where he received his bachelor’s degree in communications, graduating just this past May.

Throughout his 22 years, Skyler touched many people’s lives. He always wore the biggest of
smiles and was more than willing to help anyone out, anywhere and anyhow, that he possibly could. He
always listened to people and gave any constructive advice that he could. One day, soon after his nana
died, Skyler’s father and aunt were fighting. He went to both of them and asked if they would sit down
and talk with him as a mediator. He did not like to see people hurt and in pain, and this was the only way
he could see to heal the wounds. To everyone he met, he was known as a superhero.

When Skyler was a newborn, he received a Precious Moments blanket from his nana. From that moment on, he and his blanket were inseparable. Skyler and his blanket lived a life of adventure. When he was four, Skyler tied his blanket around his neck, slipped on his moon boots, and strapped on his big white helmet to learn how to ride his bike. He had to place his bike next to the curb because his legs were too short to get on the bike on his own. But he took off and never looked back. Later in life Skyler, along with his blanket, came to love camping and hiking the great mountain ranges of Utah, Idaho, Colorado, and Montana. He loved to see the waterfalls of these majestic ranges.

Skyler loved basketball, boxing, and football. He played football for four years at Stansbury High School. If you happened to look into his gear bag, his blanket was always present. After graduating high school, he took on a new challenge and traveled to Alaska to work. While there, along with his ever-present blanket, he learned the art of knife sharpening and filleting the great Alaskan salmon. After receiving a motorcycle as his college graduation gift, Skyler came to share the love that his father had for riding. Again, he strapped on his big, now black helmet, placed his blanket in his saddle bags, and took off for more of life’s great adventures.

Skyler was followed in death by his mother, Charity Marie Longaker Mair, and was preceded in death by his grandmother Elizabeth Jane Shaffer Longaker; his grandfather, Lyndon A. Mair; and grandmother Linda Joyce Mair. He is survived in death by his father, Lyndon Shane Mair; his sister, Shayna Luzon Mair; his brother, John-Zander (JZ) Guida; and his grandparents John (Victoria) Longaker. He is also survived by Katie, Jim, and Joe Farabee, his cousins whom he considered his sister and brothers, and numerous aunts and uncles, including Brock Lindsay Mair, Tammy (Brian) Bedford, and Jarom (Emily) Mair. His many other cousins, especially Brandon, Trevor, and Caleb Bedford, will miss him dearly, as well as numerous friends and heartbroken ladies.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at noon in the Neffs Canyon Ward, 4176 S. Adonis Dr. (3950 E.), Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held where friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects or share memories at the same location on Friday, August 30, 6–8 p.m. and on Saturday, August 31, 10–11:30 a.m. Interment will follow the services at the Holladay Memorial Park Cemetery, 4900 S. Memory Lane, Holladay, Utah (just east of the former Cottonwood Mall). Funeral services and floral arrangements are under the direction of Didericksen Mortuary.
