Life & Legacy
On Monday, January 29, 2018, Kacey Jeremy Leavitt, 22 years old, passed unexpectedly in his sleep.

He was born January 10, 1996 in St. George, Utah, the son of Jeremy Earl and Cheri Lynn Campbell Leavitt. He graduated from Grantsville High School and attended the University of Utah on scholarship prior to serving an LDS mission in Phoenix, Arizona. After returning from his mission Kacey chose to attend Brigham Young University. He was a junior, majoring in Applied and Computational Mathematics, with concentrations in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Kacey was a brilliant young man with an intense curiosity for understanding the world. He had a very unique ability to comprehend abstract concepts that are well beyond the grasp of most people. Not only could he understand difficult concepts, he was passionately driven to implement his ever expanding knowledge in new and creative ways in order to help make the world a better place. He accomplished many incredible things in his short life. He left us too soon with many unfulfilled dreams and the promise of great things never to be realized. Kacey was an eternal optimist, who always brought joy to everybody who knew him. He was unwaveringly devoted to his faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and took every opportunity to share his beliefs with others. His actions reflected his beliefs, as he always did what he believed was right. Kacey was a loving son, brother and friend with an epic commitment to his faith and family.

Kacey is survived by his parents Jeremy and Cheri of Grantsville, his brother Keith Andrew and his sisters Madalynn Florence and Sierra Lynn. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Kimberley and Jerry Clayton, and is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Andrew N. and Earlene Ault Leavitt. He has many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will truly miss him.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Didericksen Memorial in Grantsville. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 2 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Grantsville Stake Center, 550 E. Durfee Street. A second viewing will be held at the Grantsville Stake Center prior to the funeral services on Saturday, February 3 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with burial at Grantsville City Cemetery.

Such a bright young, humble man! We are so sad to hear of his passing- May his passion for missionary work bring you peace at this time...He served in our ward in Deer Valley, AZ and then was in our ward when we bought a house in Waddell, AZ. We loved connecting with him about math and hearing his testimony - but also seeing his example and the growth that had occurred from the two places. Remarkable young man. We know that this life is not the end and that his mission continues! Love and prayers to your family - Love the PBJ Miller Family

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your beloved son, Kacey. No words could ever convey the pain of your hearts, but our loving Creator and Heavenly Father does know. He has promised that very soon this enemy, death, and all the things that bring our hearts pain will be a distant memory-Revelation 21:3/4. Until then please find comfort in knowing that He (God) is close to the broken hearted and those crushed in spirit He saves-Psalm 34:18. It is my hope that these passages, along with your loving memories of Kacey, comfort your hearts and give you a measure of peace during this most difficult time.

There are no words that can help or heal you from your grief. All I have been thinking about this whole week is just how sorry and sad I am for your family. I remember Kacey when he was little. He grew up to be an amazing young man that touched so many lives. Your family is and always will be mine and I am so sorry for your loss. You all are in my prayers. Love you, Travis

I remember Kacey as always having a smile on his face. When we visited his ward or one of the YM activities, he was pleasant and kind. I know he made an impression on me as a good solid young man. So sorry to hear of his passing. May God bless your family at this tender time.

Our son Jared was one of Kaceys BYU roommates this year. He loved and admired Kacey and Kacey was there to help him with when he needed help with any of this math homework problems. We had the privilege of meeting Kacey last August when we were helping Jared move into his dorm. He was just a wonderful young man and we are grateful Jared got to know him. We are so saddend by his passing and our thoughts and prayers are with you. Thankfully, we know that you will see him again and when that happens your tears will be tears of joy and happiness. May God bless and comfort you at this time.

We were so saddened to hear about Casey. He was always so happy and up beat. Seth said one Sunday he couldnt believe in elders quorum that Casey didnt even need to look up the scriptures because he had memorized them. He really loved the lord. What a wonderful representative of our Heavenly Father. Our love and prayers are with your family at this sad time. If you need anything, let us know. Hal and Cheri Sagers

Cheri you know my favorite remembrance of Kacey...a couple of weeks into 1st term his freshman year at GHS he walked into his councelor's office, Coach Cloward's, with his calculus book in hand. He said "Coach I need to change out of calculus". Coach said "I know it's tough. We can put you in trig or pre-calc". Kasey said "No, this is too easy. I've already done the whole book". I was only his VP for a year before being transferred to THS. In my 30 years in education I've never met anyone like him. He was special. He had a brilliant, beautiful mind and I can only wonder, what incredible things he would have accomplished. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Kacey played on a soccer team that I coached; he and my daughter were both on the team. They were all a busy bunch of 10-11 year olds. I enjoyed watching the wheels turn in Kacey's head as he evaluated the other soccer players, and lined up to make his play. During practice he was there to have fun, and it showed. I appreciated his optimism and fun-loving attitude. I am glad I got to know him.
