Life & Legacy
Allen Clyde Collings of Grantsville, Utah; our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother and uncle passed away surrounded by his family on January 10, 2019 in Tooele, Utah at the age of 71.

Allen was born May 17, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the second child of four born to Fred & Reve Collings of Magna Utah.

He loved the outdoors, riding horses, camping, scouting and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He served a full-time mission to Australia in ’66 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He married his High School sweetheart, Lana Gay Henline, daughter of Harvey & Myra Henline, in the Salt Lake Temple, July 26,1968. They raised their four children, Trevor, Allison, Laura and Lonnie in WVC.

Allen spent his career and hobby in construction and woodworking.  He was an accomplished Finish Carpenter and Artist.

Allen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served faithfully in many capacities. His life long love was serving the Young Men in the Scouting Program, eventually earning his Silver Beaver award and his 50 Year Pin.

He was a true disciple of Christ and lived his life as such. He never put his needs before anothers and was the first to volunteer for any type of service that needed to be rendered. His testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel was his core and he magnified his Priesthood callings.

Allen is survived by his wife, four children and their spouses, fifteen grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers and their wives and his sister.

A viewing will be held Monday, January 14, 2019 from 7 - 9 pm  at 410 South Shelley Lane, Grantsville Utah.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. with a viewing held one hour prior. Interment will be at the Valley View Cemetery following the service and a luncheon.

I grew up living next door to Allen and Lana. I have many memories of those days, how kind and gentle he was to me and the entire neighborhood. His pigeons he had in their carport, and every summer he would bust out his tote-goat and give us all rides around the neighborhood. When I would sleep over with Allison, I loved playing with her amazing doll house that he made for her. I see it still. And I remember how kind, sweet and gentle both him and Lana was with not only me, but all us hoodlums, (haha).God Speed Allen on your next mission. You left an impression on myself and many many others.

Thinking of the Collings family today and reviewing conversations about Australia, pinewood derby cars, scouting, Native American traditions, coin collections, and high adventure trips, and doctor visits. Im imagining him excited for the resurrection and a perfect body, but watching over Lana in the meantime. We love you.

I grew up across the street from him and his family. He was an amazing Husband,Father and friend to all who knew him. He was an inspiration to so many of us in the hood. Always willing to help and was wise beyond his years. I didnt have my dad at home with me,but I had an Allen across the street. He helped my family in many ways through out the years and I always tried to return the favor whenever I got the chance. I was lucky enough to know him and call him friend. Ive always loved the Collings family and I always will as I will cherish the years of memories shared on Regene Way.
