Angelia Joy Fitzwater Tolson died on February 11, 2024, after a long courageous battle.
Born to Jay Gordon and Henrietta Fitzwater on April 10, 1952 in Russellville, WV.
Joy put herself through nursing school and worked her entire career in the medical field. She especially loved working with older patients.
Joy had a beautiful smile that was just irresistible; to know her was to love her There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her friends.
She is survived by her siblings: Sidney Fitzwater Liddiard (Allen), Gordon Jay Fitzwater (Penny), Martha Mae Fitzwater, and Lonnie Matthew Fitzwater; nephews: Casey Cochrane, Jake Cochrane, Ivan Fitzwater; and nieces: Angela Salazar and Marcia Salazar.
Preceded in death by her only child, Maria Francesca Garneri; parents and grandparents; and special mentor, Sister Constance.

Joy was a beautiful memory from my childhood. My siblings and I were younger than Joy, so we knew she was more knowledgeable about life and it's mysteries. She taught us to bury our feet in the Earth so our feet would grow. We believed and we watched and waited while Joy wiggled her toes and told us her feet were growing. Later, Joy was my nurse after I had my second son. She gave me sound advice on being a mother, as my first child was 11 years older than my second. She lit up my world with her cheerful, bubbly, charming and exuberant manner. Surely missing such a marvelous angel.
