Our loving father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Don was born August 3, 1939, to Oscar and Naomia Wayman in Castle Dale, Utah. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Afton Ryan, on May 15, 1957. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
Don was a dedicated family man who taught his family the value of hard work. He retired from ATK (Hercules) after 38 years of service. He also built and ran two successful family businesses; an accounting and tax preparation business, and a rental property business, both of which continue to be run by his children and grandchildren.
In his free time, Don loved traveling, camping and fishing with his family and friends. He was a generous and giving man with a heart of gold. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
Don is survived by his 5 children Bill (Kaylene) of Kearns, Shirlynn (George) Elmer of Grantsville, Brenda of West Valley City, Scott (Judy) of Murray, Robert (Patty) of Taylorsville, 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, his parents, siblings Ralph, Van, and Mary, grandson Eric and great granddaughter Ellie.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 9th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Jordan North 8 th Ward, 3900 S. 4000 W. in West Valley City. A viewing will precede the service from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. There will also be a viewing the night prior, Sunday, October 8th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the same location.
Special thanks to the “angels” that cared for Dad so tenderly for the last few months. There are not words to express our gratitude. These angels from Brighton Hospice and Home Instead allowed Dad to enjoy his final days at home.

To the family, my sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in the knowledge that "there is going to be a resurrection, as the Bible confirms at Acts 24:15. Do not be amazed at this, Jesus assures us, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. (John 5:28,29) By meditating on Gods promises found in the Bible, may you find real hope and the strength to keep going. (1 Th 4:13,14) Deepest sympathy.
