Jack Hottinger, born June 23, 1940, in Newark, Ohio, left this earth February 23, 2021. Jack wanted all who knew him to know he loved his job at Tooele City. Jack retired after 30 years of dedicated service. Jack was not a person to just sit. After retirement, Jack volunteered his service for the Tooele County Sheriff's office and was Senior Patrol officer for Tooele City Police, along with his niece Heather Shoemaker. He took his community position very serious and with pride.
Jack was born to Walter and Mary Hottinger. He was one of 13 siblings. He had a twin sister named Tilly and remained close to her over the years.
Over the years Jack was the perfect half to his wife, Katie. They were married on October 31, 1964. Katie was the light of his life and the spent 58 years together. They spent time collecting Elvis coke and die cast cars. Jack was, by trade, a carpenter. He had a passion for woodworking and could build anything. He loved his coffee too!
Preceded in death by his parents. Jack leaves behind his dear wife Katie; his son Thomas (Melanie); two grandsons Cody and Austin Hamilton; many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 1 at the Tooele City Cemetery. Please wear masks and practice social distancing. Anyone who wishes to come may attend.
All who knew Jack, knew he was tough as steel and was truly amazing!

Jack, Dad, The King, Uncle Jack, Grandpa Jack, and friend. He loved his Kay with all his heart. He wore his wedding ring like a badge of honor. He was so proud of his son Tommy, nieces, nephews and grandsons. He had an incredible Innocence about him. He could laugh at the simplest jokes, especially his own. He would clip a clothespin to your clothes and have a smirk on his face until you found it. If he was sneaky enough you would get a phone call from him asking if you found anything, then snicker. He could build or fix anything! Such a handyman to have around! He loved animals and children. He always wanted them safe from harm and to be happy. He was a fighter! He survived a broken back, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. He loved to dress up as Santa Clause so he could make children smile. He loved his country and proudly flew the flag in his front yard.As a senior patrol officer he was so proud to check buildings and call in to dispatch when he found open doors and/or other suspicious activities. When his niece and son battled cancer he cried for them. He was our Superman! Unfortunately COVID was his Kryptonite.Dad, I hope you are paying attention to all the love that is being shared with us about you!Taker easy! Have a good cup!We love you so much!
