Life & Legacy
Lyle honorably completed his earthly mission and returned to his Heavenly Father on April 28, 2021.  He was born on May16, 1951 to Cora Louise and Owen Parkinson.  Lyle is the oldest of eight children: Lucille,Cora (Guy) Johnson, Wally(Karen) Parkinson, Renea (Steve) Baker, Lorraine (Lee) Mair, Rebecca (Chance) Bawden, Howard. Lyle was married and sealed to the love of his life Susan Gull on February 16, 1973. Together they have three wonderful children: Ben (Elaine) Parkinson, John (Tara) Parkinson, Chelsie Parkinson. He has four incredible grandchildren: Abigail, Spencer, Ethan, Mollie.

After graduating from Grantsville High School, Lyle served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in the Midwest Mission. Upon honorably returning from his mission he worked in the salt industry working for 40 years until he retired from Cargill to “live the good life after bringing home the bacon”! Lyle worked very hard to provide for his family.

Lyle was a man of service. He served as a volunteer firefighter, numerous church callings, and committees at his work. One of his pure joys was volunteering at Tooele County Children’s Justice Center as he fully believed in the work they were doing. In the halls of Middle Canyon and Sterling Elementary he was known as Grandpa P. and he loved reading with the kids.  Spending time with family and being a grandpa was his top priority.

A viewing will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 AM with funeral services directly following at the Erda Stake Center, 1050 W Erda Way, Erda UT 84074. Graveside services will be at the Tooele City Cemetery following the funeral.

Ben, John and Chelsea, I'm so very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He was such a great guy. I remember coming to Middle Canyon when I worked with my beloved Goddess. He was always smiling. I will miss them both more than you will know. You will always be my Ethiopian half bothers and sisters always and forever.I love you all,The chosen oneDeneene Lang

To Lyle's wonderful family: children, grandchildren, brother, and sisters I want to tell you that i'm so sorry I wasn't able to attend Lyle's funeral due to family obligations. I thought so much of Lyle and Suzi! They did seem to have a wonderful marriage. When I think of them, I see them with Suzi laughing and Lyle quiet with a BIG smile! Lyle and his family spent many, many summers as children on our farm in Idaho. I know they loved their time up here and we enjoyed every time they came! Who wouldn't? It meant Aunt Louise would make some of her delicious rolls! They always made it up to attend the Preston Night Rodeo which became a tradition, Lyle was good natured, humble and interested in others. He always made a great effort to be at the family reunions. Family was important to him. I didn't know he was having health problems but I'm sure he is happy to be with loved ones who welcomed him home!

I KNOW that Lyle & Susan are together again, I've been on the other side, from a motorcycle accident. I know that they were not my Aunt, and Uncle, but were my cousins, however I've always referred to them as my Aunt and Uncle. When they got married, it seemed like they were the first persons that i knew that got married. I'm sure in part because it was as if everyone else in the Gull family was already married. So i paid particular attention to their marriage. And i watched close!! They always were happy, kind to each other, they had fun together, no public disagreements, no yelling, etc. I'm sure that they had their moments, but they must have been in private. It impressed upon me enough, that i wanted to be like Uncle Lyle, and have what he has. UNCLE LYLE, YOU ARE ONE OF MY HEROS!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR LOVING EXAMPLE. LOVE ALWAYS, Worren Nelson.
