Life & Legacy
After his courageous battle with cancer, Lew passed away peacefully Friday, August 24th at his home in Tooele. He was born in Price Utah to Eldwin R. Colby and Zina Loree Harrison on November 8th 1950. He was the 9th child born of 10 children. He also had many step-brothers and sisters.

Lew proudly served in the US Marines Corps for 3 years during the Vietnam war, from October 1969 to October 1972, and was in the Marine Reserves for an additional 2 years. He was extremely proud to be a Marine and having the opportunity to fight for his country. While on leave in 1971, he met the love of his life, Tina Goodwin, in Page AZ. They married two weeks later, in Las Vegas, and just celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. They built a family with 6 children.

After his service in the Marines, they moved to Utah. He worked many jobs throughout the years, always making sure his family was cared for. While living in Price Utah, he worked many years in the coal mines.

Lew loved camping, fishing and hunting. Fishing was a passion of his. He was outdoors every opportunity he had. He loved spending time with his children, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He had many nieces and nephews he thought of as his own children. And enjoyed reading Stephen King novels.

Lew is survived by his loving wife, Tina Colby. His children, Margie Velazquez, Susan (Cuco) Valencia, Alisha Colby, Lewellen Lee Jr (Pamela) Colby, Kathie (Justin) Ward, and Jeremy (Amanda) Colby. His sister Joyce Colacito, William (Marveline) Colby, Jay (Juanita) Colby and Elree (Donna) Colby.

Preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Geneen, Bernice, and Diane. His brothers Clive, and Dee, and his brother in laws Dan Colacito, Jimmy Glaubensklee, and Dean Goodwin.

Uncle Lew.... Grape Ape.... He always had time for me.... Was always there when I needed him.... Especially after mom died. His bravery and goodness and belief in God are things he passed on to all of us, quietly, with respect and love. He loved all of us so deeply, i knew that for sure. He faced cancer with a quiet dignity that few would know his pain. I love you unca, you are with so many others now. Please give my son a hug for me.
