Grantsville

Tanner Troy Stettler, 20 years old, of Grantsville, Utah, passed away on May 15, 2023. He was born September 7, 2002, in Logan, Utah, to Troy and Carrie Stettler. Tanner is survived by his parents and his siblings: Makayla (18), Nathaniel (16), Sierra (12), and Eli (10). He is also survived by his great-grandparents, Robert and Carrie Sessions, and grandparents—Bert and Sharon Centeno and Bruce and Marcile Stettler—as well as many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and dear friends.

Tanner's education started at Excelsior Academy, transitioned to Grantsville High School, and continued at Southern Utah University, where he studied criminal justice. Tanner was gifted with knowledge and intelligence, and he did well in his classes throughout his life. His passion for debate inspired his desire to pursue a law degree.

Tanner was engaged and active outside of school. He started soccer when he was little and eventually played for Elite FC competitive soccer and Grantsville High School’s varsity team. He loved spending time with family and friends, doing things he cherished most: fishing, backpacking, hiking, game nights, soccer, and swimming. Tanner worked hard on the things he was passionate about and was very competitive. Later in life, he discovered a passion for mixed martial arts and recorded a record of 1-0, a major milestone for him. His family also treasured Tanner’s artistic side. Tanner loved music, whether it was singing, playing the piano, listening to his favorite bands, or finding new music to share with others. He also enjoyed painting and sketching. Throughout his life, Tanner was a dependable, hard worker. He opened and operated Stettler Window Cleaning, as well as working at several fast food locations, Soelbergs Grocery Store, lifeguarding, side jobs, and Mountain America Credit Union as a teller in Cedar City. Tanner looked out for everyone else and loved to help other people.

We know Tanner had a great impact on others during the short time he was here with us and he will be missed by so many. We look forward to the day when we can hug him again and be reunited as an eternal family. We love you, Tanner!
