Carol Diane Catmull Kanellos
December 3, 1952 — October 7, 2025
Salt Lake City

Carol passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the age of 72. She was born on December 3, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Arthur Eugene Catmull and Francis Helene (Lindsay) Kanellos. Carol passed away surrounded by her family after suffering a cardiac event due to hypoglycemia.

She loved spending time with her two daughters, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were playing games on her phone, getting her nails and hair done, playing the slots in Wendover, and cuddling with her many Yorkies.

She worked at Walmart for over 20 years, where she made lifelong friends and family while working in the fitting room and as a floor associate. Some of her most cherished memories were spent with her Walmart family, engaging in fun shenanigans like dressing in costumes when customers weren’t watching.

She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and we will forever miss her contagious laugh and love. She was always willing to help anyone in need and always dreamed of traveling.

She was preceded in death by her biological parents, Arthur Catmull and Francis Kanellos; her eldest brother, Arthur (Big Gene); her son, (Little) Gene; and her son-in-law, Raymond. She is survived by her two daughters, Tina Steffensen and Lisha Pyne (Brent); eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; seven brothers; and her adopted father, Jon Kanellos.

There will be a brief graveside ceremony on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 12:30 PM at the Tooele City Cemetery located at 361 S. 100 E., Tooele, UT, followed by a luncheon at the Parks & Recreation building, 255 S. 100 E., Tooele, UT (upstairs, small room).

I love you Grandma, thank you for accepting me through all my phases of life. For loving me, and all my darkness. I hope you are in peace. I hope you and my dad are hugging.
