Gloria Duran Mascarenas
March 1, 1936 — December 16, 2024
Tooele

Our sweet, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, December 16, 2024. She has gone to Heaven and is now reunited with family and Our Heavenly Father.

Gloria was born on March 1, 1936, in Wagon Mound, New Mexico, to Virginia Carrillo and Anastacio Duran.

She married the love of her life, Adelicio Mascarenas, on September 3, 1954, in Tooele, Utah. Together, they began their legacy and raised a beautiful family.

Gloria was the matriarch of her family. She was always there when she was needed most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. She loved her family dearly and cherished spending time with them at all events.

Gloria was one of the Utah Jazz basketball team’s biggest fans. She knew all the players’ names and never missed a game until she no longer could. She was also a loving mother to many children she cared for over the years. An excellent seamstress, Gloria enjoyed playing bingo with her friends and family and taking trips to Wendover.

Gloria was a long-time member of St. Marguerite’s Catholic Parish in Tooele, Utah.

She is survived by six of her children: Gary (Tracy), Tooele, UT; Joe (Lorraine), Tooele, UT; Elizabeth Lettig, West Jordan, UT; Daniel (Shaunda), Tooele, UT; Andy, Tooele, UT; and Jamie (Kim), Pueblo, CO. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include brothers Leo (Sharon), CA, and Anthony, CO; and sisters Stella, UT; Priscilla (Steve), UT; and Barbara Jane, CO.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Adelicio; daughter, Theresa; sons, Lawrence, Curtis, Deno, and Adelicio Jr. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Ted, and Moses; sisters, Nora and Lorraine; and grandson, Daniel.

Funeral services will be held at St. Marguerite’s Parish, 15 South 7th Street, Tooele, Utah, on Friday, December 27, 2024. The schedule is as follows:

 • Viewing and condolences: 11:00 a.m.

 • Mass: 12:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at Tooele City Cemetery. (The family requests that the hearse be followed to the cemetery.) A luncheon will be held afterward at St. Marguerite’s Gymnasium.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to their brother, Andy, for the long-term care he provided to their mother, as well as to their sister, Theresa, for her loving assistance.

Special thanks to Dr. Littledyke, Dana, Maddie, R.N., and the team at Harmony Health Care for helping to make Gloria comfortable.
