Andrea Smith Tate, 63, of Tooele, Utah, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a courageous year-long battle with stage 4 lung cancer.

Born on April 9, 1961, in Tooele, Utah, Andrea was the beloved daughter of Rachel Ardella Calton and George Lynn Smith. She was number six of seven siblings: Lynnette Smith, Delajean Smith (Milo) Berry, Deanna Smith (John) Hislop, Greg (Ellen) Smith, Gary (Lori) Smith, and Gerald (Lea) Smith.

Andrea shared a remarkable love story with her husband, Mark David Tate. High school sweethearts, the two were married at the young age of 18 and spent an incredible 45 years building a life together filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Andrea was not only a loving mother and grandmother but also a devoted and extraordinary wife who supported and cherished Mark throughout their life together.

She was a caring and loving mother to her five children: Cassie Tate (Dan Owen), Kacey Tate, Mark Gary Tate, Kami Tate (Chris) Fields, and Michael Lynn Tate. Her pride and joy extended to her grandchildren: Kaitlin, Kalissa, Kimber and Kori Palmer. Cambrie and Kennadie Owen, Theia and Mark James Tate. Logan, Matajia, Miyah, Kal-El, Kanon, Korbyn, Kingston and Kamden Fields. Each of whom she cherished deeply

She served in; Relief Society, Primary, Young Women, Cub and Boy Scouts, was Girl’s Camp Director for 11 years, and as a Family History Consultant. Her most recent calling was serving in the Grantsville Family History Library which she loved dearly. She found joy in serving others, just as her mother had done, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met with her kindness and compassion.

Professionally, Andrea worked for; the Tooele County Aging Services in Grantsville,Tooele County School District, serving as an adult education secretary, then registrar and secretary at Clark Johnsen Jr High.

Her greatest accomplishments were found at home as a wife, a mother, and grandmother. She raised her children with love, taught them faith and service, and created a home filled with warmth and joy.

She supported each of her children in their many interests and sporting events, as well as her nieces and nephews which she considered “hers”. She maintained close relationships with each of her siblings, as well.

Andrea’s passions were many: she loved crochet, embroidery, cross-stitch, plastic canvas, Emergency Preparedness & food storage, Family History, cooking alongside her husband, boating at Lake Powell with family and friends and sharing her love for Star Wars and Disney princesses, especially, Tinker Bell. She was a true patriot and loved the U.S. Flag and the constitution. She was a selfless giver, always putting others before herself and finding ways to make those around her feel loved and supported.

I worked the last several years with Andrea at Clarke Johnsen Junior High School. Andrea was always kind, patient, and caring to everyone. Andrea was an outstanding person in so many ways. I have missed Andrea not being at School these past few months. I want to offer my sincere condolences to all members of Andrea's family. She will be greatly missed but no one will feel that more personally than her family. I wish you comfort and peace at this time of mourning that can only come through faith in the mission of our SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST. Sincerely, Jeff Gorringe
