May 6, 1956 — September 21, 2025
Grantsville

Dennis James O’Reilly, a man whose love knew no bounds, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, September 21, 2025, embraced by his loving wife. Born on May 6, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, Dennis was the 5th of fourteen wonderful children to Douglas and Sophie O’Reilly. His journey was a testament to the power of love, commitment, and a passionate, creative soul.

Dennis’s greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kimberly O’Reilly, with whom he shared 27 years of adventure and a love story that bridged the East and West Coasts. They met serendipitously at a software conference in Bellevue, Washington, and married on April 23, 1999, in Salt Lake City, Utah, forever uniting their families. Through all of life's ups and downs, their deep and unwavering love for one another was their constant.

He was a proud father to Missy (Steve), Erik (Kathryn), Ashley (Raymond), and Tessie (Paige), and a doting grandfather to sixteen precious grandchildren: Navaya, Ayla, Bryce, Andrew, Camron, Steven, Shia, James, Gustavo, Hope, Mateo, Tajan, Zayden, Jehtix, Rhys Rose, and his newest grandson due in November. He cherished every moment with them, and his love for them ran deep. He was especially grateful for the constant presence and energy of James and Gussy, whose loving connection kept him on his toes in his later years.

A true artist and craftsman, Dennis had a passion for woodworking, creating beautiful boxes, ornaments, and pieces that will forever be treasured by those who received them. He was a man with many interests, from designing an intricate train station in his basement connecting Bryce Canyon to Central Park, to meticulously crafting ponds and beautiful yards with his own hands. He took immense pride in making a beautiful home and sharing it with family and friends.

Dennis was proud to have served his country in the Air Force. He later channeled his passion for technology into his own computer repair company before dedicating 26 years as a DBA consultant with Tek South on a project at Hill Air Force Base.

He is also survived by eleven of his cherished siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friend and furry companion Zeus. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas; his mother, Sophie; and his two brothers, James and Patrick.

The train has left the station. A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held at a future date for family and friends from the East and West Coasts to reunite and honor the kind, generous, and caring man he was to all who knew him.

I love you babe, always and forever. 27 years was just not enough time with you. You are the strongest man I have ever met. Your strength to fight your way back and give me 5 more years to hold you was such a beautiful gift. I am thankful that your health issues are over and you no longer need to struggle so hard. I love you to the moon and back always and forever, my wondermous husband. Thank you for rubbing my ankles nearly every night, thank you for always telling me that you loved me every day. I miss you so very much.

I always loved going to Aunt Kimmy's and Uncle Dennis's house. Reese, Gus, and I always had a blast. Uncle Dennis would always give us those tootsie roll suckers whenever we saw him. I remember going on walks with him and Bruiser, his old dog, and riding around the neighborhood on his four wheeler. We would join him on his trips to home depot and when we were driving home he would make us laugh by swerving in the road (safely). I always felt safe with him. He was patient and caring. I will love him always and forever.

My buddy, I will miss you greatly. The 22 years we shared at work were filled with challenges, laughter, and unforgettable moments—especially during late releases and year-end crunches. You always brought energy and spirit, and I’ll carry those memories with me always. Fly high my friend!!!

I worked with Dennis for 20 years. He was always a please sure to speak to and he genuinely cared about how people were and what they were doing. He taught me about bearded dragons, frogs, and how to get around base security. It was a pleasure to know him and work with him. His family meant a lot to him and his work family cared about him deeply. He was a great friend. You will be missed. Till we meet again Kind Sir.

When I lost my husband, Wally in 2022 he and Kimberly burned two of our favorite photos into beautiful cedar pieces of wood, along with their own little easels that I kept on my desk at work. They now grace my coffee table at home. He was a generous, caring, and loving man. God bless him. And God bless Kimberly and the family he left behind.

Uncle Den, I’ll remember you for all that you stood for. A creative mind, an unapologetic sweet tooth, an uncle always willing to share the endless mischievous stories of his adolescence with his siblings, a kind heart with an unmatched sense of humor. Take care of each other up there and look over us down here. I’ll miss you. Until we meet again.

Dennis never knew the light he brought to my life but seeing him first walking Zeus and then taking him around on his tricycle. Dennis was always there with a wave and a smile. I will miss this terribly and hope he is at peace. Sending all my love to his family and friends.
