Espoir Gapasi Igiraneza
March 25, 2019 — March 6, 2025
West Valley City

Espoire Gapasi Igiraneza was tragically taken away from us at the young age of 6. Espoire attended Hillside Elementary and was in preschool. He loved spending time with his classmates and was loved by his teacher and everyone who had the chance to meet him. He was full of life.

He loved watching basketball and football with his big brothers. He liked whoever was winning, especially Chelsea and the L.A. Lakers. He loved spending time with his family, laughing—his smile and laugh could brighten any room. He loved listening to Bible stories from his mom.

He was a kind and gentle soul. He leaves behind his parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins, who will miss him tremendously.

Rest in Eternal Paradise.

Services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church located at 460 S 800 E, Salt Lake City, Utah 84102. A viewing will be held at 9:00 am and service at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Taylorsville Cemetery.

My class got to spend time with Espoire during specials at school. My students loved watching him play and work on his “Kobe” basketball shot. He definitely kept them on their toes and he taught them so much! His smile was infectious. Thank you for sharing him with us at Hillside.

My sweet, sweet boy! I miss you so much. You were so happy the last day in class, and would not stop giggling. I am going to miss your smile, laugh and giggle. I will miss watching you move around school in your new wheelchair, and running me over. You will always be in my heart and a part of my class. We are going to hang up your picture in the classroom so we can have you here everyday. We sent balloons to you on Monday and I hoped you liked them. We will be celebrating your birthday in class. I love you so much. Rest in peace my handsome boy. Love Miss Brandie

Espoir was so full of joy and laughter. Although we did not hear his words, his smile and his eyes spoke volumes. He brought so much happiness to everyone around him. It was a privilege to be his bus driver to take him to Hillside Elementary. When the bus arrived at his home, there is a basketball hoop on the curb. From the wheel chair ramp he would shoot three pointers. He is truly missed! I pray that God will comfort and strengthen his family in the coming days.

The sweetness of your spirit was always present. It was an honor to be able to serve you in a small way and be your School Bus Driver for a time. I love you!

Espoire, I'll never forget all the fun times we had in class! I'll miss your sweet smile, the way you held your hands to make a "swish!" with a basketball, and how fast you could get around on the ground. You brought a smile to everyone who knew you.
