In Loving Memory Of
Linda Mair
October 6, 1951—May 4, 2019
Life & Legacy
Linda Joyce Mair would like to let you know that she returned to her Heavenly Father on her favorite day, May the 4th be with you. As you can tell she was a huge Star Wars fan. She received a call, a sort of offer you can’t refuse. This offer entailed having no pain, returning to see loved ones, never ending delicious food that doesn’t make you gain an ounce, reading, and all the talking, laughter, and love she could ever handle.
Born: October 6, 1951 to Dawna Gladys Ellis and Norman Clarence Hammer in Salt Lake City, Ut. She married the love of her life, her joy, her happiness (and royal pain) Lyndon A. Mair on April 17, 1970 and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Aug. 6, 1974.
According to the stories my mom would tell, life didn’t begin until the day she got married. She was told by a doctor that she couldn’t have children so she went on to have 4 children in 5 yrs defying him and the odds. That wasn’t enough for her so she became a librarian for Tooele County School District. This way she could have between 400-800 children depending on the school and even better she could send them home when she got tired of them. When the district told her she had to have a teaching license to continue being a librarian, she decided to get her bachelors and then masters degree so she could become a teacher and continue in the profession she loved. My mom was stubborn, opinionated, determined, and a control freak but I say this with love because it helped her throughout life including two weeks after she retired when she found out she had ovarian cancer.
She is survived by Shane Mair, Charity Mair, Tammy Bedford (Brian), Brock Mair, Jarom Mair (Emily), and 15 grandchildren. She has a sister Cynthia J. Dooley (John) and a brother Doug Parkin remaining here on earth while she is preceded in death by sister Carolyn Spriggs.
She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them even when they teased her endlessly. She loved to camp, go to Disneyland, cruise, and spend time in Park City.
Before she is laid to rest she invites you to come see her one last time and say goodbye on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Village Blvd. Chapel, 390 E. Village Blvd., Stansbury Park, Utah from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (viewing) and a luncheon/celebration of life (there will be singing and anyone is welcome to share a memory/story about Linda) at 1 p.m. following the family prayer. Close friends and family are welcome to attend. Services under the direction of Didericksen Memorial.
In lieu of flowers she would like you to donate to the Huntsman Cancer Institute where 100% of donations go to cancer research. http://thehuntsman.org/give
