Hailey Shaye Durfee

Our sweet Hailey left this earth suddenly on the morning of February 20, 2024, and was greeted with open arms by her little brother Bryce. What a joyous reunion that must have been.
Hailey was raised in Grantsville and graduated from Grantsville High School in 2014. During those years, she worked hard to become a Certified Nursing assistant and quickly learned nursing is what she was meant to do. She graduated with her associate degree in nursing in 2021. Hailey had been working on her bachelor’s degree and was nearly finished. She loved being a nurse and helping others. She was a kind and thoughtful person, who was always willing to step in and help with anything her loved ones needed.
Hailey met her fiancé, Jordan VanWagoner, in 2017. They were thrilled to be starting their lives together and were eagerly planning their wedding, set for this September. She loved him so much and could not wait to marry him. Hailey took pride in making their house a home. She loved working on home improvement projects and using her crafting skills to make furniture. Hailey loved planting flowers, tending to yard work, and making beautiful crafts for their home. Together they have three beautiful dogs that she cherished.
She enjoyed boating with Jordan’s family, fishing, and had a real passion for hunting with her dad. Hailey would jump at the chance to make new memories with him. Hailey loved spending time with friends and family, going to concerts, and just hanging out.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bryce Durfee. She is survived by her parents Bryan and Lacie Durfee, Don and Amy Kunzler, fiancé Jordan VanWagoner and his parents Jamie and Jessica VanWagoner, grandparents Ken and Connie Durfee, Bret and Sabrina Anderson, Boyd and Judy Jasper, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A viewing will be held on the morning of Friday March 1st, 2024, from 9:30 – 10:30 at the Grantsville 7th Ward Chapel, 415 W. Apple St. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the Grantsville City Cemetery. Services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial.

I remember seeing Hailey for the first time as a new manager. She was shy at the beginning. Shortly after, I know she has the potential to become a leader. She was promoted to charge nurse a few months ago and did a fantastic job keeping her patients safe and co-workers happy. She will be greatly missed by everyone who worked with her.

I work with Hailey at Rocky Mountain, I remember she was worry about her NCLEX exam, we talked and gave her all the notes that helped me, the day she found out she pass she was so happy of becoming a RN, She was a great Nurse, person and co-worker and I am sure she would be missed, I think heaven needed her angel back too soon. Rest in peace my friend, Nursing juts lost a good one ❤️

I remember teaching her in Sunday school with Michelle (my late wife). I remember her being in young woman’s with Michelle as her instructor. She always had a really sweet spirit and was so kind to everybody. I’m sure Michelle was there to welcome her with open arms too. It’s so sad! There’s no words to express. I’m so sorry for all yawls loss.

I worked with Hailey in 2021 at the rocky mountain facility in tooele. I was still in school to get my license and had so many questions. She always came up with answers to my questions. She was such an amazing nurse. She wrote me a few letters of recommendation for school and scholarships so I can go through nursing school. Hailey was an amazing role model and an even better friend. She will be greatly missed.

I remember sitting in a panel of managers and directors interviewing Hailey as a brand new nurse applying at St. Marks Hospital- I was impressed with her excitement and eagerness to learn and be part of our med/surg team. Helping patients recover was natural for her, smiling came easy for her and being a great dependable nurse was her passion. She had a great life story. “We are all stories in the end, remembered by the adventures we had, the achievements we made and the people we loved. So make sure your story is a good one”. Thank you Hailey for sharing your light, love and talents with all of us nurses.

I worked with Hailey briefly last year as new grad nurses, and I’m so grateful I had that opportunity. She worked hard and made sure that her patients knew she cared about them. She was a great person to talk to— she’d listen and laugh with me during my triumphs and mess-ups as a nurse. I always knew that if I had a shift with her that I would not only have a great nurse on the floor, but a great friend as well.
