Margaret "Maggie" Johanna Summitt April 12, 1943 — July 13, 2025 Stockton
Maggie Summitt, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on July 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 12, 1943, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Maggie lived a life full of warmth, resilience, and quiet strength. She developed a lifelong love for books, gardening, and fishing with her sisters. Later, she made her home in Tucson, Arizona where she raised her family and became a cherished member of her community.
Maggie was known for her deep empathy, love of animals, and gentle humor. Whether offering a listening ear over coffee, her handwritten birthday cards, or feeding stray cats, she found meaningful ways to care for those around her. Maggie believed in the power of small acts of kindness and lived that belief every day.
She is survived by her children— Michael (Leticia), James (Tracy), Christopher (Sandra), Daniel, Randy, Teddie (Nate), & Monica (Pat)—and by her 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren whom she adored beyond measure. She also leaves behind her sisters, Mary Ellen and Susie, and many close friends who became family over the years. Maggie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Shirley Faye and Edward Harrison Foley, and her stepsons Larry and Rickey.
Her legacy lives on in the stories she told, the traditions she passed down, and the love she gave so freely.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Maggie’s care team at Harmony Hospice - Maddi, Hudson, Gwen, and Rachel. Also to Didericksen Memorial, The Spiced Pear Loft, and everyone at St. Marguerite’s for their help coordinating the services. Their kindness and patience provided a calm during the storm.
A celebration of Maggie’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 22 at St. Marguerite’s Catholic Church:

Grandma, I am sorry I wasn't there or involved towards the end; I never stopped carrying your love for me with me. I'll never forget the time spent, the shows watched, and the trips taken. You held a family together by sheer termination, sympathy, courage, love, and faith. God needed you and I know we have another watchful eye over us. I'll miss you as I have been. Thank you for your endless love and support. There's so much I could say but I'll leave it with I love you, more than I made known.
